The Print Shop Receives FSC Certification

Your Choice of Printing Services and Paper Can Make a Difference

The Print Shop recently received chain-of-custody FSC certification. We are one of only two printers in the central Wisconsin area that have been FSC certified to guarantee to our customers that their printed products are on environmentally friendly paper produced from responsibly managed forests.

The Print Shop has a history of responsible business practices. We recognize the importance of our environment, which includes the responsible managing of our forest resources. We strongly support recycling and the use of recycled paper.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international organization promoting responsible stewardship of the world’s forests. FSC sets international standards for responsible forest management and accredits independent third party organizations who can certify forest managers and wood product manufacturers to FSC standards.

Because of our commitment to the environment we chose to be audited by SmartWood, which is part of the Rainforest Alliance. SmartWood works with land owners and managers to ensure that the wood and pulp they harvest come from well managed forests where wildlife and wildlands are protected, and workers and neighboring communities are treated with respect. They then provide chain-of-custody certification to manufacturers (including paper mills and printers) that demonstrate accountability in handling FSC certified products.

By selecting a printer and papers that have been certified by the Rainforest Alliance’s SmartWood program for meeting the strict standards of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), your company can demonstrate its commitment to responsible forest management and sound business practices. As an FSC certified printer, we can certify that your printing is done on paper guaranteed to come from forest lands managed to conserve biodiversity and support local communities.

Some of our clients choose to include the FSC and Rainforest Alliance logos on their printed pieces to show their commitment to the environment. Others choose to select FSC certified paper based on their corporate policy but do not necessarily include the logos on their printed pieces. In general, the type of project and the intended audience determine whether the logos should be included.

Many paper producers (including Domtar Industries Inc. and Stora Enso) have chain-of-custody certification to manufacture some of their papers as FSC certified. By selecting The Print Shop and FSC certified papers, you have a highly visible way of demonstrating your company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
